Quaint little coffee shops, sitting out in the sun on the deck enjoying a beer, windsurfing, lying on the beach lost in a book.....
The first thought that may have flashed into your head is that I am describing Victoria, B.C. Nope, the place in question is Peru Beach in San Isidro, Argentina.....a 40 min trainride away from Buenos Aires. BsAs may not have much in the way for those of us who grew up near the ocean or the culture of surf but the good news is that excursions outside the city to places like Tigre or San Isidro are dirt cheap as they get.
I am one who practices what I preach so when I tell others that to never be afraid to try something new, I'm never above my own advice. After my novel was completed, I badly needed a break and try something completely out of my routine, like going to a suburb that most tourists never set foot in and doing activities that are foreign to me.....like windsurfing.
You can burst any images in your mind of me gracefully gliding along the surface of the ocean. My plump asian being was seen crashing into the ocean no less than 5 times during a 1 hr lesson. But the really fun part is that my olympus camera is shockproof, waterproof, and freezeproof so I was able to take it right into the lesson with me in the middle of the ocean to record every moment of my bumbling attempts at windsurfing.
There should be no doubt in anybody's mind by now that I preach what I practice and practice what I preach. Click here to view the full photo album of my humiliation
