Unveiling R.Lynn

Most of the time when someone rises to fame, we only hear about it after they've gotten their big break. Only very few people like friends and family got to see their whole journey to become what they are today. But I am glad that in my life that I did get to witness someone's personal journey and even got to play a part in it. It has been a privilege for me to watch someone I've known since childhood turn into a well respected author who is making waves on the internet.

Yes, her career is peaking but there is a story behind it and not many people realize that long before she got to where she is today, she made many sacrifices, sacrifices that people would thought have were ridiculous. My friend has also done acting for film as well. At one point there was an audtion for major role on an upcoming TV show for a red head. My friend was the leading prospect the producers wanted to play that role.

But God had different plans for my friend and after praying much, she felt to turn down the opportunity and go to Africa and do Mercy Ships with Y.W.A.M. So she turned down the opportunity for the role of the red headed girl on the television show, the show that we all know to be "The 70's Show". If my friend had not turned down the role, she would have been the red-head that you saw every nite on T.V.

Little did she know that God still had plans to make her famous, it just come in a different form and at a different time. God knew he had to do some work inside her heart before her day would come and some of that change of heart would happen when she was in Africa. Just to make it clear, a mercy ship is a ship full of supplies, medical equipment and an operating room on board the ship. When they dock, there are hundreds of people that line up to get much needed surgeries aboard the ship.

The few days on board the ship, this friend of mine saw the line of people, many of them horribly disfigured and with pus and boils all over their skin. Outwardly she smiled but inwardly part of her went "Uh....this is horrible and gross. Eeeewww"  It was in that moment that a voice spoke to her and said "Who do you think you are thinking they are ugly? I created these people...they are beautiful to me" And my friend says that from that very moment, something happened within her and all of a sudden she saw these people the way God sees them, as beautiful. And it was like God touched the eyes of her heart and she saw them as beautiful and could not see the deformity.

There are many interesting stories and things that happened before she became who she is today. She has had many challenges and shouldn't even be alive. Few of us would be alive if we were bitten by a deadly spider in Africa. Once bitten the victim goes unconscious until the venom takes their life on the third day. But the team prayed and prayed and prayed while my friend just laid there unconscious for 3 days. Then on the third day, she simply opened her eyes and got up like she had fallen asleep and woken up!

I'm really glad she lived to write another day. After all, she hadn't woken up, none of us would be enjoying the highly acclaimed  "The Descendants Saga" by R. Lynn. She gave up the opportunity up for fame on TV and God gave the opportunity for fame right back to her in his way. There is a saying that God makes all things beautiful in his time. And in R. Lynn's case, it seems like God made her famous in his time....
