The New 7 Wonders of Nature

Ever wanted the chance to shape history? Or to have say in something of significance that impacts us globally? Now you can! We've all heard of the 7 Wonders of the World. And for the majority of us, we simply had to accept what landmarks other people had decided should have title of being included in "The 7 Wonders of the World". But on 07/07/07 after 100 million votes, a new "7 Wonders of the World" was selected and declared in a ceremony in Lisbon Portugal.

The "New7Wonders Foundation" started another campaign to find "The New 7 Wonders of Nature".  There are three stages to this campaign. Firstly there was a global vote for nominees to which 77 natural wonders were chosen to head to the next round. In the next round, the voting continued and the 77 natural wonders were shortlisted to 28 finalist. And from those 28 finalist, 7 of them will be chosen to be officially names as part of "The New 7 Wonders of Nature". And I proud to announce that Iguazú falls has made it as one of the 28 finalist for consideration to be named as part of "The New 7 Wonders of Nature".
I first found out all about the campaign when I was in a souvenir shop visiting Iguazú falls in Dec. The cashier told me about the campaign to find 7 new wonders of nature and asked me if I was interested in voting for Iguazu falls. Having just visited and seen the falls, I must say that I had become very much smitten by them had no trouble casting my vote. She seemed very pleased and got me to fill out a an info sheet that requested my name and email address etc.

A couple of months later, I got an automated email letting me know that it was time to cast my vote and all I needed to do is click on a link and follow the instructions to cast my vote. I went through the steps and......VOILA!!!!! One simple click of a button and history was made! Quick and easy, just the way I like it :) But it's not only my vote that count, we need yours too! There is still plenty of time to vote. Voting will continue throughout all of 2010 and into 2011. And on 11/11/11 after millions of votes, the "New 7 Wonders of Nature" will be declared. To vote, simply head to the official website of "The New 7 Wonders" and click on the green symbol that says "Vote now for the new 7 wonders of nature". Remember to choose Iguazú!

I think that Iguazú is very much worthy of being included as one of "The New 7 Wonders of Nature". For those of you who have been there, you'll know that this is one of Argentina & Brazil's best kept secrets.......until now. It is time to let the planet know just how fabulous Iguazú really is! I took the trip in Dec and months later, I still haven't been able to get over the sight of those amazing waterfalls or having a close encounter there at Devil's Throat Canyon.

And if you haven't been to Iguazú falls, vote for it anyway! Because you're going end up there at one point and you're bound to jump on the bandwagon with the rest of us and agree that Iguazú falls is a breathtaking unforgettable experience. If you need a little bit of convincing, just click onto the website to Iguazú National Park. But for now, here are some pictures to whet your appetite.....

FOZ DO IGUACU, BRAZIL - AUGUST 12: Water flowing over the Iguacu Falls leaves a cloud of mist between Brazil (front) and Argentina (rear), as the sun sets over the Iguacu National Park on August 12, 2009 near the town of Foz do Iguacu in the Brazilian state of Parana. The waterfall system consists of 275 falls along 2.7 kilometers (1.67 miles) of the Iguazu River, straddling the border of the two countries, and has an annual peak flow of some 6,500 cubic meters a second. The Iguacu falls is a finalist to be one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature. (Photo by David Silverman/Getty Images)
